Aptumo is a new multi-utility SaaS product native to built from the ground up for all utilities companies, small or large, to bill anything, anywhere. Aptumo has been developed by Echo-MS (owned by South Staffordshire PLC), in Walsall, as part of an ambitious next generation growth programme underpinned by an ‘entrepreneurial’ start-up funding model. We have our first customers in the UK and Australia, and we are now moving out of the start-up mode into the next phase of our product life cycle.

Role Purpose

Whilst this role may also be known as Presales Consultant, Solutions Architect or a Solutions Engineer, we are seeking a candidate who will be responsible for leading the solutioning throughout the sales cycle and delivering thought leadership to companies to transform their customer’s experience.

Utilising your wealth of experience you will work in collaboration with your colleagues to support the creation of solutions for prospects and customers.

In order to accomplish this, you will need a strong desire to set the vision translating business objectives into enticing and actionable recommendations. The Solution Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to our customers while aiding the customer’s transformational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver innovative custom solutions built around the Aptumo and Salesforce ecosystem, including presenting solution concepts to key decision makers to address their business issues and needs demonstrating business value
  • Own definition of scope inventories, solution requirements and story backlogs (including base lining) for Salesforce solutions within the Utilities domain.
  • Support re-engineering, definition and mapping of relevant business processes as well as corresponding business change activities
  • Support definition of business case including relevant value drivers, project KPIs and other PMO considerations
  • Understand greenfield implementation conversations and discuss the ‘art of the possible’ solution
  • Lead a team of business analysts to drive requirement, process and business case related work
  • Facilitate client workshops and meetings with senior client stakeholders on both business and technology side
  • Coordinate and lead the entire solution cycle through close collaboration with other functional and delivery teams.
  • Understand and clearly articulate the benefits of Aptumo and Salesforce to customers at all levels, examples include; Administration/IT Staff, managers and "C" level executives.
  • Present compelling Aptumo and Salesforce & partner solutions while supporting relationships with customers and partners.
  • Provide thought-leadership and industry insight on the opportunities Aptumo and Salesforce provides within the Utilities domains combined with relevant best practice
  • Provide industry expertise, incorporating and developing a point of view based on Salesforce solutions.
  • Own and manage a set of Industry specific template solutions/components and process libraries
  • Help to shape our consulting propositions and contributes actively to our community of practices
  • Provide quality assurance during on-going delivery
  • Display initiative, self-motivation and deliver high quality results along with meeting all expectations for both internal and external customers.

In order to succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will need excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills, be open-minded and consultative in their approach but more importantly have an appetite to absorb and share knowledge.

Experience and Qualities

  • In-consultancy and advisory work projects for Utilities, Manufacturing, Finance/Insurance or Telecommunications companies
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work across multiple projects and within virtual teams
  • Strong sense of industry and technical innovation and developments
  • Ability to understand business challenges and strategic thinking alongside deep technical knowledge
  • Understanding the unique business requirements of customers within multiple industries and translating/presenting those needs into a compelling vision and road map for our customers.
  • Track record of solution engineering, consultancy, delivery or training success for a software solution organisation. We are open to a variety of backgrounds for the role but exposure to Salesforce is a must.
  • Demonstrate advanced industry and Salesforce platform knowledge; recognising trends and themes to effectively advise customers Experience in defining and implementing Salesforce solutions, with focus on business analysis (processes, requirements), scoping and functional design
  • Strong background in either consulting or end-user business analysis within companies
  • Functional knowledge of relevant processes and capabilities
  • Solid oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication and relationship skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems in dynamic, energizing environments.
  • Inquisitive, practical and passionate about technology and sharing knowledge.
  • Likes to be the first to know something and to understand why and how things happen.
  • Good at searching out information and experimenting, likes to concentrate on a particular topic and to solve puzzles.
  • Good at explaining ideas and finding ways to keep people’s attention.
  • Solid project management skills (PMP or PRINCE2 certification desirable)
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills


  • Degree level qualified in a related field, Masters level advantageous
  • PMP, Prince2, PMBoK or AgilePM qualifications advantageous
  • Agile DSDM or Scrum exposure is desirable
  • Hold at least one basic Salesforce certification along the following tracks; Developer, Consultants, App Builder, Administrator.
  • Has a good understanding of the Salesforce core products and general configuration/customization concepts

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel and work at client site(s) including overnight stays as and when required – approx. 30%-50% if seconded to bid and delivery team
  • Potential for overseas travel (AUS) to work at client site(s) including extended periods as and when required
  • Clean Driving licence
