Echo's service includes all end-to-end billing activities from data conversion and system configuration, through to bill design, printing and fulfilment. It encompasses meter reading, customer management, bill production and debt recovery services. At the heart of Echo's service though, is the market leading UK water industry billing system, RapidXtra®.
Echo currently runs and manages customer databases covering over 3.75 million customers, through a billing system used by 30% of the UK Water Companies. Continual investment in R&D since its inception in 1998 has resulted in a system which is finely tailored to the unique requirements of UK water companies.
Over the years, a software development policy of safeguarding the system's flexibility has seen RapidXtra integrate seamlessly with numerous leading 3rd party applications. Remaining technology agnostic, whilst ensuring the software is developed in the most scalable and robust platform, has delivered a system which is equally adept at working with the latest dialler technology or debt management platform as it is in integrating with Microsoft or Oracle databases and applications.
The scalability and flexibility of the system is further preserved through the cost efficient way in which development and maintenance is managed. Expertise and cost savings available through centrally managed off-shore partnerships keep development expense down, whilst also providing an efficient way to tap into a pool of fully trained, highly skilled professionals as and when the need arises. This is complemented by a core team based at Echo's headquarters who manage development and bespoke requirements, guided by the feedback and conclusions of the Rapid User Group.
